The Triune Godhead; Father, Son and Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The full inspiration and authority of the Holy Scriptures
We believe in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God.

The Depravity of humans
We believe that humankind was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained (Rom 3:23).

The Death and resurrection of Jesus and His sacrifice for our sins
We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate (Heb 9:6-15).

We are made right with God through repentance of sin and belief in Jesus
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God (Rom 10:9-10).

The Holy Spirit Indwells all Believers
We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men; regenerate the believing sinner; and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service (1Cor 6:19).

Satan and Evil Spirits are at work in this world (1Pet 1:8)

Personal, immanent, visible return of Jesus Christ
We believe in the personal and immanent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that this Blessed Hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (1Thes 4:13-18)

Distinctives
Outreach Church
We believe that God formed us from the beginning to see people won to Christ. We believe that Canada is a major mission field for us to work in. We want to take away all stumbling blocks, except Jesus, in the presentation of the Gospel.

Orderly Use of Spiritual Gifts
We believe that miraculous gifts are still in use, but not all christians are given the gift of tongues. We do not encourage uncontrollable urges since the spiritual gifts should be controlled by the person and used in an orderly fashion. We also do not encourage extra Biblical manifestations like roaring or slaying in the Spirit. We do not want the non-Christians to be confused (1Cor 14:23).

Target of Generation X
We want to make our ministry as raw, real and relevant as possible to reach this generation.

• REAL - Church on the Rock is a church of real people still on their life journey with God.  We love to celebrate, have fun and grow in intimacy.  Come as you are.
• RAW - Our church grew out of a vibrant youth group in the Hamilton area and so we continue to be young at heart.  Church should never be boring!  We do things quite different than most churches yet we are held accountable and recognized as a Baptist Church by the BCOQ (Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec).
• RELEVANT and INVOLVED - All of the people who are church partners have a place of action at the Church on the Rock.  We have no "armchair quarterbacks".  We are also involved in our community, helping and caring for those who need help.

Purpose Driven
1. To Worship God with all our heart, mind and strength. (Matt 22:37-40)
2. To love our neighbor as ourselves through ministry. (Matt 22:37-40)
3. To proclaim the good news of Jesus' salvation clearly, prayerfully and convincingly with our lives. (Col 4:3-5)
4. To present to God believers as fully growing followers of Jesus. (Col 1:28-29)
5. To help all believers discover and use their spiritual gifts. (Eph 4:11-13)
