Will they tear down Washington, DC?

November is a month that I enjoy for several reasons.  I love the fall because of the cool mornings and warm days.  It is also the month that our whole nation stops for a few days to remember and give thanks to God. 

This particular Thanksgiving I wanted to share the following thoughts with you.

Did you know that…

As you walk up the steps to the Capitol which houses the Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing the middle law giver who is facing forward with a full frontal view – the middle law giver is Moses with the Ten Commandments!

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on the lower portion of each door. As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see that on the wall right above where the Supreme Court judges sit is a display of the Ten Commandments!

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C. James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement:

"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the "Ten Commandments of GOD."

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777. Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies.

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and instead of interpreting law would begin making law, an oligarchy, the rule of few over many.

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

How then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 200 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

TRUTH OR FICTION?

Our world is becoming saturated with information and misinformation, and all too often telling one from the other proves to be an almost impossible task. The following skeptical Web sites allow you to double-check Internet rumors.  TruthorFiction (TruthOrFiction.com) provides a list of out-and-out urban legends, disputed tales and true stories, all searchable.  Snopes.com (Snopes.com) gives you the low down on not only urban legends but also common fallacies, misinformation, old wives' tales, strange news stories, rumors, celebrity gossip, and similar items. A good backup is About’s Urban legends and Folklore site (Urbanlegends.About.com).   Concerned about medical hoaxes? Quackwatch (Quackwatch.org) zeros in on health care fraud, dentistry scams, quackery and homeopathy, to name just a few.  You’ll also find advice on how to pick a doctor, how to spot scams and more.

Get to Know Your FullNet Staff

My name is Noorisha Nawaz, but everyone calls me Shana.  I first joined the FullNet family as an OU intern in the summer of 2000. This was quickly followed by two more internships in close succession. FullNet has an environment unlike any other company I have seen. Here the energy and drive of a lean startup Internet company is tempered by the traditional values, prudence and business experience of our management to which allow us to do a lot of exciting things very cost-effectively. After I graduated from OU last year, I was fortunate to be able to return to FullNet to work full time as a Systems Administrator.

As a dial-up user my biggest influence on your experience is your email. I administer your mail server and continuously seek better ways to increase performance and fight spam. I also take care of the DNS servers that translate your request for www.espn.com to the address (199.181.135.201) that your computer can understand. Apart from what I do on the dial-up side, I am primarily responsible for our web hosting servers, where we host business, personal and non-profit websites from all over the world. Another area I get to work with is colocation, where clients host their servers in our datacenter. I take care of their day-to-day needs as well as providing hourly consulting services in the areas of networking, security, administration and programming.

The two things I like the most about working at FullNet are the incredible people and the wide variety of challenges I face every day.

Apart from work I spend my time watching Sooner Football, going dancing, working with a local disaster relief organization, losing at pool, practicing martial arts, learning languages, fantasizing about a car with door-handles and taking care of my very pregnant sister.

I was born by the ocean in Bombay (India), a small town of 20 million people, half-way across the world. I do occasionally feel a little homesick and very land-locked, but Oklahoma has earned a special place in my heart, and I am likely to stay here for some time to come.
